Presentation of the region

Description of the region

The Valencia Region is located on the Western Mediterranean seaboard and occupies a strip of coastline over 400 km long. It has almost 4 million inhabitants. The Valencia Region produces 10.5% of the Spanish GNP and over 15% of all Spanish exports.

Its location sets it square on the Mediterranean axis, which has been one of the economically fastest growing areas in Spain in recent decades. This axis is presently connected to the south of France and the north of Italy, one of the potentially fastest growing areas within the European Economic Community.

The Valencia Region has undergone a rapid process of industrial and touristic development, which has been added to its longstanding agricultural activity.
