The third edition of the young Ceramists Additive Manufacturing Forum (yCAM) took place from 3rd to 5th April 2019 at the Univeristy of Mons, Belgium. The conference was hosted by the Belgian Ceramic Society and the University of Mons.
yCAM is an event organized by Europe Makes Ceramics, an initiative of ECERS, dedicated to young researchers working in the field of Additive Manufacturing of ceramic materials. yCAM 2019 had a very positive response of international participation, with 152 registered participants coming from institutions situated in 23 different countries: Austria, Belgium, Cameroon, China, Croatia, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom.
The program of yCAM 2019 opened with two highlight presentations, starting with the organizers Dr Giorgia Franchin, Dr Andrea Zocca and Mr David Karl presenting on EMC, followed by Dr Francis Cambier presenting the JECS Trust and by Dr Erkka Frankberg and Dr Dominique Hautcoeur presenting the Young Ceramists Network (YCN).
The major part of the program, split over 7 sessions in 3 days, included 42 presentations from young scientists.
A brief introduction of the different technologies presented was provided by the session organisers at the beginning of each session. Participants also presented 53 posters over the course of 3 different poster sessions (one each day).
In addition, the participants enjoyed the possibility of taking part in the conference dinner on the evening of April 4th, in a drink organised on the Mayor House on 3rd April in the evening and in the visit of the BCRC laboratories on 5th April end of the afternoon.
