2026 yCAM forum in Ljubljana

The 2026 edition of the young Ceramists Additive Manufacturing Forum (yCAM) was organized by ECerS at Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI), Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 11th to 13th May 2026.

yCAM is a forum on Additive Manufacturing of Ceramics dedicated to young scientists and is an initiative of Europe Makes Ceramics (EMC), the Additive Manufacturing network of ECerS.  Everyone interested in AM who is a student, young researcher or young professional was welcome to join the event. yCAM 2026 was a place for open discussion, combining high-quality scientific presentations with a fresh and informal discussion at all levels, from learning the basics of new technologies to sharing practical experiences.

The main topics of the yCAM 2026 forum were:

• Material jetting technologies (MJ, BJ)
• Vat photopolymerization (DLP, SLA, 2PP, Hologram)
• Materials extrusion technologies (FFF, DIW)
• Emerging, hybrid and multi-material technologies
• Applications: dental and medical application, energy storage and transformation, space
• Technology: pre- and post-processing techniques, toolpath optimization, online monitoring, digitalisation
• Analysis: mechanical testing, powder and slurry analysis

Some numbers about yCAM 2026:

• There were 115 participants attending coming from 23 countries (Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, Czechia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, United Kingdom).
• 32 oral presentations were given.
• 2 posters session were held with a total of 61 posters presented.
• 5 Invited Speakers: 3 on Additive Manufacturing topics and 2 on ERC projects advises.

To facilitate the participation of young researchers, 20 travel grants of up to 500 € were sponsored by the JECS Trust. Priority was given to oral presentations and abstract evaluation.

2 awards for Best Poster presentations were awarded to:

• Julia Apel from Forschungsinstitut für Glas - Keramik GmbH, Germany
• Pia Popovič from Jožef Stefan Institute, Ljubljana, Slovenia

yCAM 2026 was again a successful forum, thanks to the sponsor allowed by the JECS Trust.
