Europe Makes Ceramics

Mathilde Maillard - Part of the yCAM 2027 Organising committee

She is graduated from Université Paris Sorbonne with a Master's Degree (2018) in Health Engineering and Biomaterials. She received her Ph.D. in Materials Science from INSA Lyon (MATEIS laboratory, 2022), where she worked on the rheology of ceramic pastes and the extrusion-based additive manufacturing of alumina-toughened zirconia structures. She then joined BONE 3D, gaining industrial experience in the fabrication of titanium implants by selective laser melting and in medical device regulation. She subsequently moved to INSERM in Lille as a post-doc, working on point-of-care 3D printing, patient-specific surgical guides and bioprinting for tissue regeneration. She's currently a post-doc in the ALCHEMY Lab at EPFL, Switzerland, working on tomographic volumetric additive manufacturing of cellularised bioinks and their in situ mineralization for bone and osteochondral tissue engineering. Her research uses rheology as a predictive design tool linking formulation, processing and final properties.
