Europe Makes Ceramics
Local Organizing Committee yCAM 2022 - Joan Josep Roa
Joan is a Chemical Engineer from the University Rovira and Virgili (URV, 2000-2005) and has a Materials Engineer degree from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia-BarcelonaTech (UPC, 2005-2007).
In 2010 finished his Ph.D. degree in Material science from the University of Barcelona (UB, 2006-2010). After completing the Ph.D. he held a two-year postdoctoral stay (2010-2012) at the “Institut Pprime” in the “Center National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS, Université de Poitiers)” in France.
In October 2012, he returned at the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, joining the CIEFMA’s research group, with a post-doctoral fellowship. In 2016, he was hired as tenure-track associate professor (Serra Húnter Programme) at the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy of the UPC-BarcelonaTech until 2021.
His research can be divided into three research themes: i) Mechanical characterization of materials at different length scales, ii) Characterization of the main deformation and damage mechanisms induced under complex stress field by using advanced characterization techniques, and iii) Rheological study of ceramic pastes to be used in 3D printing.
Nowadays, he is working at GPAINNOVA as a test lab manager.
